Serrated Edge

I first heard about Scott Kennedy as the person who nearly got deported to Canada for arson because he set a car on fire in my ex-boyfriend's driveway. The fire was accidental, he was just so rude to the cops that they made him take anger management classes anyway. My ex-boyfriend told me the story of Scott's near-deportation in our archery class before we started dating in an effort to impress me, and it worked. Scott and I became friends ourselves a few years later, having met at a celebratory brunch some friends planned when I'd decided to move to Portland. He and our friend Kevin sang the outro of the Dead Milkmen's “I Am the Walrus” at me to commemorate the decision (poke out your eyes and move to Portland, etc). I later learned that he earnestly believed he had written the song “Serrated Edge” himself without ever having heard it before, and was furious to discover that it already existed. I don't not believe him. It is a perfect song.
